MNRI and Primary Reflex Integration

BIO: Adele Schiessle is a Brain Integration Specialist combining various modalities to help calm and reorganize the nervous system. Her cornerstone modality is MNRI and she is the only MNRI Core Specialist in Charlotte.

Adele Schiessle has an insatiable thirst for learning how to improve health on every level. Her B.A. is in Psychology with a concentration in stress management. She spent over 20 years working in the fitness field as a personal trainer, yoga and aerobics instructor and health coach. In 2008 she expanded into learning how movement affects our brain functioning through Specialized Kinesiology, becoming the Parkinson’s and MS fitness specialist in a hospital-based fitness facility. She blends all this knowledge and years of experience along with her continuing education, to tailor programs specific to her clients’ needs while continuing to add to the modalities she uses to further support them.

It was Adele’s children’s challenges that led her to her studies in Specialized Kinesiology and neurodevelopment. Her family has reaped the benefits and she loves seeing other families stress levels come down as they increase their capabilities and confidence.

Presentation Details

Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) occurs when the brain has difficulty making sense of the sounds the ears hear—often creating challenges with listening, following directions, academic performance, and daily routines.

This presentation is designed to help occupational therapists

  • recognize the signs of APD,

  • understand how it differs from hearing loss, and

  • explore the overlap between auditory and sensory processing.

Attendees will gain insight into how APD is diagnosed by audiologists and learn practical, collaborative strategies to support children with APD in therapy, at school, and at home. With a strong emphasis on functional impact and interdisciplinary care, this session equips OTs with the tools to better identify, support, and advocate for children struggling with this often-misunderstood condition.
